We've got some great RPGs coming out, by the looks o' thing. I'm really looking forward to checking out Inazuma Eleven, it's a soccer RPG, which looks very very interesting.
Also any RPG fan that owns a PS3, get Disgaea 3 damn you! Although, I'm not getting it... But that's only because I'm not really a fan of the gameplay haha.

As always it's time to pimp out my affilation programs! First, Play-Asia! I've been buying from them for years, they are in my mind one of THE best import sites out there. They are fast, trust-worthy, and have great deals! And as you probably know by now(or maybe you don't, because I haven't gotten any hits from them at all recently haha.) if you use any of the links to Play-Asia on my site, and you decide you want to buy something, anything you buy using my affiliate link will give me alittle bit of the cash, so not only is it a great way to get any import game you want, it's also a great way to help me out.

The same is true for my next affiliate, Amazon.com. Not much has to be said about Amazon, I mean isn't it the biggest online retailer? Everyone online knows Amazon is a great place to get what you want, not only video games people! And Just like Play-asia if you use the links to Amazon, or the search bar in the right menu bar on my site, I will get a bit of the cash Amazon makes off your purchase.

So yes that's all folks!
Until next time!
Farewell!

Just a little post letting my fine readers o' RPG Lamer know that I recently bought a PS3! Yay! I've been talkin' about getting either a PS3 or 360 for a long time, and the news that Sony might be getting rid of software backwards compartibility in september was enough to push me into getting one now before it was too late. I already regret not getting the 60GB verison when it was still availible, but oh well!

So, I'm lovin' the PS3 so far. I bought the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, cause I've been wantin' to play that game so badly for awhile now. Needless to say it kicks ass, even on my shitty 4:3 SD TV.

I was alittle taken back by how giant looking the system is, sure it's not too much bigger then an old PS2, but still the little add size makes it stand out, and is the biggest game system I've ever owned, and trust me I own a lot of systems!

I'm also new to the whole console game demo scene, so first thing I did(after installing an update, and installing MGS4/MGS Online) was of course went crazy downloading a bunch of game demos that slightly interested me.
The stand out demos I played were Uncharted(the duck and cover gun play was really fun, though a bit annoying at times, when the bad guys would just keep comin' at me), Amored Core 4(Pretty fun mecha game), and Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit(Nice cel shading, and the fighting was very tight feeling), I of course played more then that, but the others didn't really interest me.

Other cool things I've been doing with the PS3 involve using my PSP to actually use the PS3(via remote play feature), which I was amazed by! Sure, I could only play the PixelJunk Eden demo/use the media features of the PS3 using this feature but still it was very cool.

Speaking of the media features, I've hooked up my PSP and played music off it, and I've also put a few anime episodes on my PS3 to watch, which is really nice looking. I'm surprised how many video formats are supported.

Though one little thing I'm annoyed by is that the X button is the accept button and O is cancel! I'm so not use to that anymore haha, I'm use to the Japanese way where O is accept and X is cancel, and so far there is no way to change this! Come on hackers I know you can do it! Make a button changer for the PS3 like you did the PSP!

Alas I'm ranting and it's time to sleep. All-in-all, I'm glad I chose to get a PS3 over the 360... Sure I'm missin' out on some RPGs, but I have faith that Tales Of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 will make their way to the PS3, and if not at least I have Metal Gear Solid 4, and will soon have Trusty Bell, and Valkyria Chronicles to feed my RPG hunger. Also I wanna check out some other none RP Games, namely Grand Theft Auto 4, Rock Band, And Eye Of Judgement.

Also If any readers of RPG lamer have a PS3, and would like to kick my ass in Metal Gear Solid Online, or just wanna chat with me, feel free to Add TheRootBeerKing to your friends list! I'd love to make some friends through the PS3, and game with follow readers.

Anywho, PS3 love all around!
Good night!

I must say the RPG news of E3 sure has been lacking...

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Just a minute ago at the E3 Sony Press Conference a quick glimpse of Valkyria Chronicles was shown as coming to the PSP. This is news to me, did sony make a mistake? Or is a version of Valkyria Chronicles coming to PSP, as well as PS3?

Valkyria Chronicles is the North American title of Valkyrie of the Battlefield, the beautiful Cel-shaded Tactical RPG by Sega.

Screen shot from the PS3 game.

Update: It's confirmed, Sony fucked up, fucked up big time! Valkyria Chronicles is only coming to PS3.
"Thank god!" Is all I have to say about this, one less RPG to make me want to buy a 360.
Namco Bandai will grace PS3 owners with Trusty Bell this Fall. Originally released on the 360 last year, the PS3 verison of the game thankfully won't be just a port of that. The PS3 verison will feature new playable characters, bonus dungeons, new outfits, extra cutscenes and new multiple endings.

As it stands 360 has a few more exclusives(Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Tales Of Vesperia) I wanna play, but here's hopin' some of them go multiplatform(namely Tales Of Vesperia) .

I also wanna mention that the first episode of the anime for this game has just be realeased recently and is worth checking out for sure if you're interested in this game. I know I am!

Persona 4 has been announced to be coming to North America, which is awesome, and amazing that the PS2 is still goin' strong. It seems like that system will never die! But as long as we keep getting awesome RPGs like Persona 4 for the system, I don't care at all.

Persona 4 will hit North America on the 12th of December.
This is pretty cool news, it seems someone has taken it upon their selves to hack Tales Of Innocence and translate the game for us folks who speak the english. So far the story hasn't been translated but alot of the menu and other system things have been translated which is still a big help. So too bad Namco is very pick and choose with the tales of series in north america, and probably will never release TOI here, but thankfully we've got the power of the internet to translate things that the companies won't(let's hope Tales Of Hearts gets the same treatment, cause god knows Namco won't be releasing that game either...).

Anywho check out the translation patch here: http://setya5785.wordpress.com/tales-of-innocence-english-translation/
It's been confirmed by a press release put out awhile ago, that Star Ocean First Departure, and Star Ocean Second Evolution will be shown at E3 and thus confirmed for North American release! This will be the first time the first Star Ocean game will be officially released out side of Japan, which is quite exciting. No release date has been announced yet, but I would think some time in the winter is when we'll see these two games.

I'm quite excited about First Departure, but Second Evolution isn't that exciting... The only thing that one has going for it is the new anime cut scenes added.

All in all, this is certainly great news that I and a lot of other folks were looking forward to.

Dear lord apart from the CG this game looks amazing, it looks almost as good as the PS2 Team Destiny games! Thank god there will either be a different version of the game, or an option to get rid of those CG for anime cut scenes... Also it should be mentioned this game will be coming out 4th quarter in Japan, so probably sometime in December. I can't wait to get my hands on this one! Oh how I love me my 2D tales of games!

I think these are the first videos showing off this game(or at least this is the first time I've seen it in action), and I must say this game looks even better in motion! I'm very excited for this, and that theme song playing in the background is good friggin' stuff!
